Shrimps look to Gertrude Stein for AW18 inspiration

A Shrimp is a Shrimp is a Shrimp is a Shrimp.

[A]s Stein famously wrote “A Rose is a Rose is a Rose is a Rose”, as one of her many surrealist statements: for autumn winter Weiland has taken this to heart, saying “A Shrimp is a Shrimp is a Shrimp is a Shrimp”. Looking to Stein’s own muses for inspiration, Shrimps envisions the worlds of art collection and language, encompassing the two in its creative vision for the season. Championing her artistic aesthetic, Weiland created a vibrantly romantic colour palette, full of ruby reds and jewels, even creating her very own Rose – made of course from coloured faux fur.

Looking to Gertrude Stein’s favourite artists, like Jean Cocteau and her own, like Otto Dix, Weiland developed innovative prints, from her own abstract flora and fauna to faux fur stamped with brightly coloured shapes. Think hearts, bows, roses: all romantic as ever, but with a classic Shrimps twist.

For autumn winter 2018, Weiland has also collaborated with accessories designer Lotte Selwood to expand the Shrimps accessory line, creating an exclusive capsule collection of shoes. As refreshing a collection as ever, the references may be 20th century but the vibe is just what we need in 2018.
