Six designers to discover from Finland
New Nordic cool.
[C]openhagen and Stockholm have long been the forces behind Scandi chic. But over the past few years, a new Nordic contender has stepped into the fashion spotlight. Home to Aalto University’s renowned fashion programme and a thriving new designer scene, Helsinki is fast establishing itself as a fashion capital.
Sustainability is top of the agenda for Finland’s emerging brands, with innovative use of reclaimed fabrics and a commitment to supporting local craftmanship. Though faithful to the clean-cut Northern European aesthetic, Finnish designers aren’t afraid to embrace clashing prints, bold colour and a non-conformist attitude.
