We can always rely on Fyodor Golan to bring the lift the mood at LFW. From powerpuff girls to chupa chupps lollies, the London duo are fashion’s pop culture kings. AW18 brought all the fearless, positive energy we’ve come to expect, and then some. This season’s moodboard included hot air balloons and the ultimate purveyor of pop – MTV.
Voluminous silhouettes took centre stage with layered parachute skirts and dresses that looked ready to take flight. Sports staples were reworked with intricate crochet and pleated details. Tech fabrics paired with delicate silks offered a refreshed take on 90s athleisure.
Nostalgia for pop’s golden era was evoked with the iconic MTV logo – crocheted on oversized jumpers and on the patchwork of puffer jackets. “MTV have been the voice of youth culture for decades, we wanted to embrace this and the memories of our teenage years” the duo shared ahead of the show.
Though the rainbow hued-palette and cheeky humour were present as ever – AW18 had somewhat of a mature spirit. A grown up collection for girl’s who don’t really want to grow up. Sophisticated fun. We’re here for it – all the way up.
