Solange’s immersive new performance art piece

Exploring sculpture and meditation.

[T]his weekend she slayed the stage big sister Beyonce at Coachella, now Solange is unveiling her latest project – an immersive art installation at UCLA’s Hammer Museum.

Entitled ‘Metatronia (Metatron’s Cube), the striking piece uses dance and sculpture to explore intuition and the creative process. Beautifully minimal, it reflects the elegant aesthetic that Solange has crafted in her recent music videos and is set to a score she has created in collaboration with composer John Kirby.

“The piece is an exercise on following the intuitive force that guides us, helping us to create space, and silence the mind to create the work” she says. It’s the latest in a series of works which have seen Solange collaborate with the art world – with performance art pieces for the Guggenheim Museum, Chinati Foundation and Tate Modern over the past year.
