[J]ohn Galliano presented a holographic illusion for his latest Couture collection for Maison Margiela in Paris. Dresses made from PVC, elevated sportswear (see chunky plastic-encased sneakers) and rainbow-tinged garments that only come to life once audience members turned their phone’s camera flash on (a nod to the cyber waves rippling across Instagram come Fashion Week?).
It was a triumphant progression from Galliano’s high-fashion nomads last season (the haute-traveller essentials: toweling robes, boarding tags and swimming caps worn as a delightful headpiece). True to Margiela form, this was wild, haphazard and bursting with colour.
