[“][B]oxing is fascinating…more than a sport, it’s a state of mind. It’s a nobel art,” so says muse, entrepreneur and creative accomplice of fashion designer Rick Owens, Michèle Lamy. The multi-talented Parisian is so fascinated with the sport she has set up a temporary pop-up space in Selfridges featuring a functioning boxing gym. Aptly named Lamyland, the exclusive project in its London flagship store opens today and is set to run for three months.
The knockout collaboration sees Lamy call on her style tribesmen, working with the likes of Stephen Jones, Nike and, naturally, Rick Owens on everything from activewear, boxing equipment, fragrance and art. The real coup though of course is a sparring ring for stressed out fashionistas, which will include an open training schedule, workshops and events hosted by Lamy and “her friends”. New Year’s resolution to exercise more? This is an ideal place to start; with the added bonus of a post-workout shopping fix.
