Why did you decide on ‘Illustration’ as the theme for your first issue?
Well, no particular reason to be honest. Illustration was just a fun way to kick things off, I guess you get more diversity within illustration, both in terms of the of the artist’s skill set and experience, but also in the style of their work. Illustration is a very personal form of art that you have the complete freedom to manipulate and shape. As the first issue discusses journey and identity, we thought it fitting to have a medium that we believed would be most reflective of that.
What’s next for Yellowzine?
Our photography issue is currently being curated, we’re already fighting over the cover because there are so many talented photographers! We’re still posting beautiful visuals by BME, UK based artists on our Instragram and Twitter, and hopefully a launch party for issue 2 in April is on the horizon, so, be prepared.
