[W]ith new tunes from ZAYN, Banks, Kehlani and Tinashe all racking up the streams, we’ve rounded up the best new releases of the past seven days.
Snakehips – Cruel (feat. ZAYN)
ZAYN continues to distance himself from his shameful boyband past by collaborating with dancemasters Snakehips. ZAYN delivers a smooth vocal over some abrasive beats making this a track that’s likely to be on loop this summer.
Kamau – Jusfayu (feat. No Wyld) (Lion BABe Remix)
Kamau’s summer jam “Jusfayu” gets a remix courtesy of Lion Babe as the Brooklyn artist releases his A Gorgeous Fortune EP. Expect more from this guy this year.
Banks – Fuck with myself
“Fuck With Myself” came with the announcement that Banks would be releasing a new album called Goddess this September. It also came accompanied by this tripped out video that includes weird pink light and disembodied mannequins. Can’t Wait. For. More.
Kehlani – CRZY
Kehlani’s energised return, her first release since the powerful “24/7” arrives just in time for your R&B summer party.
Thom Sonny Green – Vienna
“Vienna” is a pretty bold statement from Thom Sonny Green, who has been working on his debut alum High Anxiety since his band Alt-J have relaxed their touring schedule.
M.i.A – Go Off
The lead single from her forthcoming (and possibly final) album, AIM, M.I.A’s “Go Off”, which happens to feature Skrillex, is upbeat and awesome. Also, this video of a series of controlled explosions in a quarry is amazing.
Tinashe – Superlove
Tinashe’s super confident “Superlove” is all about being happy with what you’ve got. With lyrics about settling down, sticking around in relationships and maybe having kids, it’s an anthem for anybody happy in a relationship right now.
Clams Casino – Be Somebody (feat. ASAP Rocky & Lil B)
In demand producer Clams Casino enlists the help of Lil B and ASAP Rocky for “Be Somebody”, another track cut from his new album 32 Levels. With all the requisite dream-hop touches to make the most of Rocky’s lyrics, the track is a late-night anthem.
Jamie Isaac – CNT U SEE
With the most laid-back production coming out of London right now, Jamie Isaac’s Couch Baby is one of the breakthrough albums of the year. “Cnt U See” is a great way to wind down.
