Photographer Marco Argüello shot his series Ultraviolet during his time living in Miami and there his lens found a cohesion between the saturated colours of sunburnt skin, blinding sands, and the questionable outfits. Shot on analog film, it’s a hilarious but also endearing portrait of society just trying, despite their best efforts, to relax in the heat.
“For me, the series is bizarre, comical, and very visually appealing all at the same time. You want to look away yet you can’t stop staring. The isolation in the composition in most of the photos also makes you wonder if some were staged (three girls) or has you asking yourself: what is happening here?”
