[Y]ou might not recognise Mont Jake’s name but his soulful sound is quite hard to forget once you’ve heard it. A newcomer to our shores, he moved to Dalston from Denmark a mere three months ago but already is right at home, even sneaking backstage at a event to give Blood Orange a USB of his songs. Early collaborations with the likes of Masta Killa and Assassin have piqued the music biz’s interest and following his latest track “Daydream” he’s likely to get a lot more Google searches in the coming months.
“”Daydreaming” is about wanting the impossible and time travel is essentially the best impossible thing to daydream about,” he says. “So for the video I wanted to accentuate the feeling by showing connectivity and fluidity, through world travel. We go to Copenhagen, London, Tokyo… and the idea of being everywhere and nowhere was really important for me to show. The accessibility of the world today is insane but I still chase the idea of being present.”
