[A] magician’s wardrobe is just as important as his mastered trickery. It commands attention. Paris-based creative duo Suzie Q and Leo Siboni sought inspiration from vintage illusionists – in collaboration with Stella McCartney for the first time – to conjure up The Great Newman.
French actor Stanley Weber steps into the title role; portraying a hapless magician. Set in an surreal and totally empty underground Chinese restaurant – whose owner is searching for an entertainment act for his establishment – “The Great Newman” (Weber) auditions for the spot showcasing his series of creative tricks. The attire? Think part Leonardo DiCaprio in Romeo + Juliet, part Charlie Chaplin, featuring McCartney’s new Charles tuxedo styled out with Miami beachside prints and sneakers.
“We’ve always loved the aesthetics of magic,” according to Suzie and Leo. “Playing with the idea of making the audience ‘believe’ and mixing that with a bit of comedy already present in the brand was a great challenge!”
Roll up, ladies and gentlemen!…
