Did Sky Ferreira really reject Elon Musk at the Met Gala?

While we expected to talk about a variety of topics after this year's premier celebrity event – eccentric and divisive billionaire Elon Musk’s love life wasn’t one of them.

Elon Musk just can’t stay away from the headlines recently. The new owner of Twitter has seen his own platform used against him by gossip account @pop_crawe, which has under one thousand followers. The offending tweet read: “It girl, model, singer, songwriter, Sky Ferreira, declines date with Elon Musk after being asked by his team at the 2022’s Met Gala”.

Now, this is Twitter after all, and the likelihood of a fairly unknown account having access to such private information is almost impossible. So where has this come from? Well, let’s get down to the facts of this crucial investigation. Musk and Ferreira were pictured seated together at the Met Gala; we’re not sure what interaction the two might have had if any, but it seems this is the only solid evidence we have of a potential romance.

Now, let’s dive into the pair’s relationship status. Ferreira is currently single after a highly publicised and difficult relationship with Zachary Cole Smith broke down in 2013. It seems as though she’s keeping her personal life to herself, which would obviously be difficult if she began dating Musk. Of course, Musk himself was also involved in a highly public relationship, with singer-songwriter Grimes — he has a type it seems. The pair have two children together and Musk told Page Six, “[Grimes and I] are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms.” So, both Musk and Ferreira are single, which would mean this interaction could’ve taken place without any accusations of infidelity thrown around, at least.

As this riveting hunt for the truth continued, naturally as one of the world’s richest and most powerful men, Musk’s mother came to his defence, of course via Twitter. “There was no team, I was with Elon. So, NO” she angrily typed. After leaving us all waiting for the next twist in this dramatic investigation, Musk finally addressed the rumour on everyone’s minds tweeting, “This rumour originated from a parody account, but got picked up by real media and Twitter trends (sigh).”

So, with that, it seems this gruelling, dramatic 10-minute investigation has come to an end, according to Musk and his mother, he had no contact with Ferreira and therefore did not get rejected. But I suppose you can’t always believe what you read on the internet.
