Dior is selling a bottle of Johnny Depp’s fragrance every three seconds

Dior has stuck by the actor during his ongoing defamation case against Amber Heard.

Depp has been notably dropped by upcoming film projects like Fantastic Beasts and Pirates of the Caribbean but it seems that Dior has decided to stick by the face of their Sauvage perfume.

It was revealed that Dior sold a bottle of Sauvage every three seconds last year, making it the highest selling perfume overall across both men’s and women’s fragrances. The claim was shared by Twitter user John Pompliano who cited a January 2022 article from Marie Claire where they reported the incredible stat.

Pompliano went a step further, working out just how much money Depp’s fragrance was making Dior. He tweeted: “Despite most labels dropping Johnny Depp, @Dior decided to stick with him. Why?They sell a bottle of his fragrance ‘Sauvage’ every 3 seconds. At $160 a bottle, that’s over $4.5 million a day in sales.”

He has been the face of Sauvage fragrance since its launch in 2015, but after losing his case, a spokesperson for the Advertising Standards Authority said: “We have received a total of 11 complaints about this ad with the complainants believing that Johnny Depp shouldn’t be in the ad due to details concerning his recent court case.”

Depp is currently battling it out in court with Heard over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed she penned in which she claimed she was a victim of sexual violence. While Heard did not mention Depp by name, the Edward Scissorhands star claims the article tarnished his reputation and career.

Depp, who was married to Heard from 2015 to 2017, has denied his ex’s claims. The defamation trial’s closing arguments are expected on 27th May.
