Everything we know about EmRata and Harry Styles’ rumoured romance
It was inevitable that the internet would have some opinions when the video of model Emily Ratajkowski and heartthrob artist Harry Styles sharing a smooch surfaced. Not just that, but dedicated Stylers and EmRata gossipers were always going to get to the core of how, why, and when this whole thing happened. But the drama that has stemmed from the video has gotten simply out of hand, as rumours of Ratajkowski having to apologise to Styles’s ex Olivia Wilde take hold. Here, HUNGER decodes the whole sticky situation, from apologies to manifestations to the future of EmStyles (new couple name?).
The video itself, which supposedly shattered hearts across the globe, shows the stars leaning up against a van on a mysterious street in Tokyo, locking lips with sporadic dance breaks as they sheltered from the rain under an umbrella. Styles is currently performing in Japan as part of his aptly named Love on Tour series, and EmRata attended to see the show. Following the viral clip, Ratajkowski hearted a tweet of a news article sharing the pair’s PDA display. One insider had already told People that “Harry and Emily know each other” and “they have been friendly for a while” just before the video was shared.
And whilst fans are left feeling “sick for weeks” following the news that their celeb crush has his own romances outside of fanfics, there is some serious drama forming due to the stars dating history. Director and actor Olivia Wilde is Styles’ ex, and the pair reportedly broke up in November of 2022 after nearly two years of dating. They met on the set of Don’t Worry Darling, directed by Wilde and starring Styles, following her own break-up with her husband Jason Sudeikis of 9 years just before.
Wilde would often bring along friends to watch her then-boyfriend perform. One of which was Ratajkowski, who was spotted attending a Paris concert in July of 2022 next to Wilde. Page Six reported that Ratajkowski is currently “begging” for Wilde’s forgiveness after many are saying she has broken the girl code with this new romance. The source for the news outlet said “this is betrayal.” A picture of the two at the Vanity Fair Oscar’s afterparty earlier this March with Adwoah Aboah is now making its rounds.
But it is no surprise that the singer hit it off with the model following another clip that has resurfaced. In a 2014 interview when asked about his celebrity crush, Styles immediately said “Emily Ratajkowski from Gone Girl.” Fans lost their minds over evidence that he has manifested this all along.
Internet users are linking the dating history of both the stars to each other, however, and displaying how much of a spider’s web this new relationship really is. Model Kendall Jenner was with Styles’ in late 2013 and 2014, before sparking dating rumours again in late 2015, and has been pictured in a string of photos with Emily Ratajkowski at various events. But models are the singer’s bag evidently, as he has been linked with Nadine Leopold, Sara Sampaio, Georgia Fowler, and Camille Rowe – who also swim in the same circle as Ratajkowski and each other.
But the internet is now unfairly villainising and picking apart his current romance with EmRata to the nth degree, by shaming her for supposedly dating the likes of Brad Pitt, Jack Greer, Pete Davidson, and Eric Andre since her split with serial cheating husband Sebastian Bear-McClard in September of 2022.
And yes, it may seem like a relatively sticky situation for the two to have ended up in – but perhaps inevitable following their history? Neither Styles’ nor EmRata has confirmed the relationship thus far, but they are also yet to deny it. So questions as to whether the pair are still together after basically breaking the internet are anyone’s guess…
