“I’ll miss you but I know I’ll see you again”: John Travolta leads Lisa Marie Presley tributes

The only daughter of the King of Rock, Elvis Presley, was announced dead on Thursday evening.

Tributes are pouring in for Lisa Marie Presley after her death was announced late Thursday evening.

Lisa Marie, the only daughter of late rock ‘n’ roll legend Elvis Presley died aged 54 after being taken to hospital following a cardiac arrest, her mother, Priscilla Presley, said in a statement.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” the statement read. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”

Just two days ago, the mother and daughter were in attendance at the 80th Golden Globes in support of Austin Butler, who won the Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama award for his portrayal of the King of Rock in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic Elvis.

The Golden Globes organisers said Presley had been “a very welcome presence” at Tuesday’s awards in a statement which paid tribute to her as “an extremely talented singer/songwriter.”

“We are incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of Lisa Marie Presley,” the statement read. “May you rest in peace.”

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson shared their condolences via Instagram, calling her death “sudden and shocking”.

John Travolta also reacted to the news, writing on Instagram: “Lisa baby girl, I’m so sorry. I’ll miss you but I know I’ll see you again. My love and heart goes out to Riley, Priscilla, Harper and Finley.”

La Toya Jackson, sister of Michael Jackson – who Presley was married to for two years in the Nineties – posted on Twitter: “We miss you Lisa! You will forever be in our hearts, I will never forget how much you shared the love you had for my brother with me, I thank you for being so honest.”

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan shared his condolences to the family, tweeting: “There is heartbreak and then there is sorrow. This would be sorrow and on more levels than I can count. Please send your prayers out for her family and children at this difficult time. I truly cannot find the words to express how sad this truly is.”

Presley was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on 1st February 1968 to Elvis and Priscilla. She, too, became a musician, releasing three albums: To Whom It May Concern (2003), Now What (2005) and Storm & Grace (2012).

She was married four times to musician Danny Keough, singer Michael Jackson, actor Nicolas Cage and music producer Michael Lockwood.
